Weltevrede Wine Estate – Refund & Returns Policy

This Refund & Returns Policy applies to purchases made on our website by customers located in South Africa.

1. Statutory Rights

1.1 Electronic Communications and Transactions Act (ECTA)

You may cancel, without reason and without penalty, any online purchase of goods within 7 days after the date you received the goods. We may only charge you the direct cost of returning the goods, and we will refund you within 30 days of cancellation.

The cooling-off right does not apply where the ECTA exclusions apply, including:

  • Goods intended for everyday consumption supplied to your home or workplace.

  • Goods that by their nature cannot be returned.

  • Goods likely to deteriorate or expire rapidly.

1.2 Consumer Protection Act (CPA)

Goods carry an implied warranty of quality for 6 months after delivery. If the goods fail to meet the requirements of quality, you may return them at our risk and expense and choose a repair, replacement, or refund.

2. Our Wine-Specific Returns

2.1 Unopened bottles: You may return unopened, re-saleable bottles within 7 days (cooling-off) provided they are in original packaging.

2.2 Defective wine: If a bottle is defective (e.g., cork taint, oxidation), please contact us within 6 months of delivery. We may request photos and will arrange collection at our cost.

2.3 Opened/consumed products: Returns are not accepted once opened or consumed unless the product is defective.

3. Damaged or Short-Delivered Orders

Please inspect your order on delivery. If items are damaged or missing, notify us within 48 hours with photographs of the outer carton and contents. We will rectify by replacement or refund.

4. How to Return

Please contact us with your order number and reason for return. We will provide a return authorisation and instructions.

Once received and inspected, we will process your refund to the original payment method within 7–14 business days (and in all cases within 30 days where ECTA applies).

5. Non-Returnable Items

  • Gift cards

  • Personalised items

  • Goods that cannot be returned for public-health or safety reasons, unless defective

6. Exchange Policy

Subject to stock availability, we can exchange items. Price differences (if any) will be settled before dispatch.

7. Courier Collections

Where a collection is arranged, please ensure goods are securely packed in their original packaging to prevent breakage in transit.
