He was obviously well satisfied with the soil and climate, our terroir, and named it Weltevrede. I like to think that when God created all his favourite places in the world, He took the off-cuts and made this beautiful valley. the diversity of soils we are blessed with form a patchwork of terroir that leads you to the discovery of a small piece of Burgundy, a little bit of Champagne, some Alsace, some Sancerre…”

Place of Rocks | Chardonnay

Story
Rooted in broken shale rock slopes, these Chardonnay vines bear fruit with juicy elegance and lively, lime-like flavours. The wine expresses its origin in a unique oyster shell minerality.

Style
Intense and focused, many describe this one as Chablis-like. A tighter style with a beautiful, feminine elegance and lingering aftertaste.

Bedrock Black | Syrah

Story
On almost solid rock on the outskirts of Weltevrede Estate these vines push their roots into the cracks in the bedrock. The vineyard yields bunches with tiny berries of pitch black colour and compact concentration of flavour.

Style
This Bedrock Black Syrah fills the mouth with black fruit flavours, dark chocolate, pepper and soft ripe tanins.
