Our beautiful town of Bonnievale is really coming into its own as a getaway destination just 2 hours from Cape Town.
If you haven’t spent some relaxing time in our farm stay cottages, this summer is the perfect opportunity.
The four restored cottages on our farm are the perfect bases to explore the valley from, or to just while away a lazy day or two in the countryside.
Four farm stay cottages among vineyards and natural fynbos
- Ons Huisie – This restored farmed workers’ cottage is the oldest house in Bonnievale. With its thatched roof it is a cosy hideaway for two, nestled among natural fynbos and vineyards. (R680 per night for the cottage that sleeps 2 people.)
- Belvedere – This cottage, equipped with a fireplace, was named after the area of the farm it is situated on. Belvedere was one of the smaller fragments of land that was later consolidated to form the current Weltevrede Estate. (R910 per night for the cottage, sleeping 4 people.)
- Bidsprinkaan – This cottage is the ideal retreat for working writers, the farm has thousands of books available on request, to provide inspiration. We named it after the novel Bidsprinkaan by Afrikaans author André P Brink. The fireplace makes it especially cosy in winter. (R820 per night for the cottage, sleeping 3 people.)
- Botterboom – The newest of our four cottages was named for a plant found on the Weltevrede farm. It is equipped with a fireplace. (R980 per night for the cottage, sleeping 4 people.)
The farm stay cottages are fully equipped for self-catering. We provide linen and towels, as well as coffee and tea and freshly baked rusks. There are beautiful hiking trails on the farm and you can fish and swim in the Breede River. You’re welcome to bring your own bicycle or canoe.
